The nature of an emergency is surprise, and our team understands that! Don’t worry about inconveniencing us, because your safety is our first priority. Please call Island City Dentistry immediately if you experience a severe toothache, knocked out tooth, or other dental emergency.
We do our very best to see emergency cases right away!
Same Day Dental Care
You deserve access to same day dental care in case of an emergency. We are more than willing to adjust our own time schedules to see you the same day an emergency occurs. Just give us a call and we will listen to you and determine your needs. From there, we will schedule an appointment based on your emergency and how soon you need care.
After Hours Dentistry
Many dentists close their doors at 5 pm, but we are happy to return to the office for emergencies. If a dental emergency arises, give us a call, even if it’s after hours. If you have a situation that requires emergency attention, we can schedule an after hours appointment to attend to you.
Examples of Dental Emergencies
How do you know if you are in the middle of a dental emergency? Some of the situations we see that require priority care include:
Dental Work Falls Out or Breaks | If your temporary or permanent dental work falls out, you can use a small dab of toothpaste to reattach it. Call our office so we can professionally reattach or recreate your dental work as soon as possible.
Knocked Out Permanent Tooth | Gently rinse the tooth and return it to its socket in the mouth, if possible. You can also store the tooth in a bag of milk and bring it to the office. It is crucial to call us right away so that we can do everything we can to restore your natural tooth.
Cut or Bitten Tongue/Lip | Clean the cut, and then hold a cold compress against it to reduce swelling. If the bleeding does not stop within a few minutes, we suggest you visit your local emergency room.
Broken or Chipped Tooth | Rinse the tooth immediately with warm water. The soft tissues of the tooth may now be exposed to bacteria, so the tooth should be fortified right away. Call our office for emergency assistance.
Severe Toothache | Rinse your mouth and brush and floss gently to remove any debris that may be causing the discomfort. You can take an over-the-counter pain reliever, but do not place aspirin directly on the tooth. Call our office so that we can determine the source of the pain and provide protective treatments.
Object Caught Between Teeth | Use dental floss to gently remove the object or food, but do not use sharp tools if you are unsuccessful. Call our office to schedule an appointment.
We’re here for you during this stressful time. Contact us at Island City Dentistry for same day appointments or after hour care.
